I created this blog for one reason only; it’s my opportunity to be totally self-indulgent, to research and write about one of my favourite things in the world: weddings.
It may surprise you to know that, despite my passion for weddings, I am a 29 year old SPINSTER! I am in a relationship, but that question hasn’t been popped – yet.
Please don’t think I’m a fraud! I do have some credentials for writing about weddings, and look at Jennifer Lopez in The Wedding Planner – concrete proof that you can know weddings inside and out even if you haven’t made it down the aisle yourself yet. And I’ll unashamedly throw out Monica from Friends as further proof in my defence; her thorough wedding preparations are legendary!
I’ve been a Chief Bridesmaid twice, and I have another gig in the pipeline – my best friend from university is marrying her fiancée next year (it’s been a long time coming; over a decade!). I’ve also been a bridesmaid three other times, been responsible for organising four hen parties (one break abroad), have visited more venues across the UK than I can count, and attend every wedding fair I can make it to. I’m either admirably passionate or pathetically sad – you decide.
I don’t profess to be an expert. I don’t know what type of wedding bouquet will best compliment your dress, or whether your guests will prefer the prawn cocktail or the goats’ cheese tartlet to start. I don’t know whether the acoustic rearrangement of Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are” is the perfect song for a first dance, or whether a limousine for the bridal party is classy or chavvy.
I don’t have the answers because weddings are absolutely unique to the couple; people can offer advice but it’s your special day, and only you’ll know what will best suit the both of you and your guests.
I guess if you’ve found your way to my site, you’re probably looking for inspiration and ideas for your own wedding. I really hope, if nothing else, you find an interesting read here, or, worst case scenario, it might help you to rule out a few ideas!
Either way, thanks for checking out my blog!
