If you are getting married in 2018 you are in luck. And even though those classic and timeless touches can never go out of style, there are some pretty cool upcoming trends that are definitely worth being checked out. From laser-cut linens all the way to marble dance floors, we see how a unique texture is going to be a pretty big element of all the upcoming trendy wedding celebrations. Another popular trend is the unconventional use of florals, the comeback of colors, indoor venues and many more.
Potted plants as aisle décor
The amazing creative director and stylist Ginny Au plans on turning wedding aisles into lush garden beds in 2018. We will be seeing many stylish pots wrapped in silk fabrics and filled with exotic flowers that will embrace the natural vibe perfect for both boho and luxurious weddings.
Exotic destinations and weddings that embrace the local culture
To be fair, destination weddings are nothing new. They’ve been out there for quite a while. However, now, they feel like a completely new trend. In 2018, destination weddings are going to be all about embracing the local culture of the destination itself, especially in locations where people can get off the grid. And those unique places, as well as local traditions and customs are actually the best part.
Emphasis on the after party
Yes, nothing can replace the wedding reception, but we are now seeing an increase in popularity of after parties. It is all about that late-night portion of the celebration. Simply, the idea of ‘the party after party’ becomes more and more welcome among people. Whether that means changing into a lighter dress or a fun jumpsuit, or adding a special late-night cocktails option, or even moving to an entirely new location to keep your guests on their toes, you shouldn’t have any trouble keeping the party going well into the night.
The year 2017 was the year of outdoor weddings. However, a lot of couples are now choosing to come back indoors. Moreover, the type of venues that are on the top of couple’s lists aren’t some boring and average banquet halls, but rather industrial spaces or interesting rooftops. It is all about diversity and originality. If you are an Aussie, you are in luck, because there are many amazing and unique wedding venues in Sydney you can choose from to make your special day even more special.
The floral scene of 2018 can be summed up in two words: moody and dark. There will probably be one of the biggest trends of 2018. Even though those beautiful, soft, lush flowers with almost too much greenery enchanted us when they first appeared, dark colors are slowly taking the scene. It is all about the drama, really. When it comes to colors themselves, a huge accent is put on the purple shades including lilac, wine, lavender, mauve and Pantone’s color of the year – Ultra Violet.
Both brides and wedding planners are taking their cues from the latest runways for linen inspiration. We are seeing more and more laser-cut details, as well as neutral and white tones.
‘Affected’ by that classic mid-century design, we cannot say we are surprised that acrylic glass, as well as other see-through materials, will have their major wedding moment in 2018. Couples are now opting for that modern, clean and architectural design translucence can offer. Venues surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, clear tents, glass tables and even acrylic glass wedding invitations and place cards are just a few examples of what we’ll be seeing in the upcoming season.
Marble dance floor
Is it because of magical photographs, or just for the aesthetics, we will never know; but one thing is certain: we can’t get enough of how beautiful those marble dance floors look. Another proof of how texture is going to reign supreme in 2018.
Buckle up everyone, we have the biggest spring of 2018 bouquet trend upon us. Even though lush and wild bouquets aren’t something new, this overgrown variety has conquered many hearts. Bridal bouquets made entirely and only of dogwood blooms are appearing on more and more weddings each day and they are not going anywhere anytime soon.
Seriously now, who doesn’t love candles? There’s just something so magnificent and romantic about them. And now, instead of those standard ivory or white candles, colored candles are taking the scene. There is no better way to add a special note of vintage romance to any space than by using, for example, pink candles in rose gold statement candelabras.
