Everyone dreams of their perfect wedding. You’ve got the invitations made and sent out, you’ve chosen your flowers and the arrangements, your dress is bought and ready to wear, you’ve tried and tasted the food that you’re going to serve to your guests and you have the perfect partner to share it all with.
But have you considered your entertainment? The entertainment at a wedding is a pretty big part of the evening celebrations. Many go for the traditional DJ and dancing to party classics on the dancefloor. But have you considered going down an alternative route?
Here you’ll find a few ideas of how to make your wedding, a party to remember!
Hire a wedding band
Yes, everyone loves the classic “get up and dance” party tunes that even get Grandma out of her seat. But sometimes it can feel a little empty if all it takes is the push of a button and a few muffled words into the microphone by a bored looking DJ. By hiring a talented wedding band, you get all your favourite songs sung by a group of truly passionate, talented artists. Who want nothing more than the room to be full of life and energy just as much as you do!
Groups like the Vibetown Band are a great example. Lively, energetic and effortlessly classic, check them out for some inspiration.
Summer Fete Games
After the ceremony guests are often at a loss while the bride and groom have their photographs taken. If you’ve got a grassy area at your venue then try some old English fete type games such as a welly-wanging competition, a coconut shy and a buzz wire, even a croquet game can keep everyone occupied! This works particularly well if you’re having an English country garden theme and will ensure the celebrations last well into the night.
If there are going to be small children there, then why not hire or buy some giant garden games?
Caricaturists and Silhouette Cutters
For a fun way to entertain young and old guests alike hire a caricaturist or silhouette cutter for the day. These talented artists will create you and your guests’ likeness in minutes and will be sure to raise a laugh or two among your loved ones.
It’s great that guests will have lots of phone pictures to take home and upload, but having something like a caricature or silhouette is a real keepsake and will always remind them of the lovely day that they shared with you.
A circus side-show
Don’t worry – there won’t be a clown in sight! Why not consider turning up the heat at your reception with a fire show featuring circus-style fire-eaters, jugglers and dancers? Stilt-walkers are also an amazing addition and if you can bare a children’s entertainer for the little ones, then that will always go down well. And also keep younger ones occupied on what can be a very long day for everyone!
